News Items – General

I feel I had to add a page for this because today (28th May 2010 – although I am doing this in the early hours of the 29th) when I was preparing to set up photographs and items to blog about here, I spotted the following item in a daily newspaper and felt the subject was so fitting to add on a blog concerning graves, gravestones, cemeteries and so on even though it was not about the places I am “looking after”.

From The Sun, 28th May 2010

“A Dead End.  Gravestones dating back to the 18th-century were flattened yesterday when a lorry careered through a wall and 200 yards across a churchyard.

The driver lost control outside St. John the Baptist Church in Blackford, near Carlisle.  No one was hurt.  Vicar Jan van den Berg said: “I’m horrified”.
